Zoo Storyhour roars into Gulf Beaches!

Avery had just been to the zoo THE DAY BEFORE, so this storyhour was an excellent review. Play: Old MacDonald had a Zoo . I sang the song, and had puppets for Old MacDonald's lion, monkey, snake and parrot. Great update for this old favorite. Book:   Tiny Little Fly with Michael Rosen, and I had a little fly fingerpuppet. Wisdom listened avidly, so this was a pretty good choice, even though there was a little baby background roaring. Song: After   Bouncing our babies, we did NOT sing the Wheels on the Bus! Instead we read: Book: The Seals on the Bus by Lenny Hort.  I love this witty take-off. It still gives babies and moms a chance to make all those great animal sounds, but it's a bit of a relief. Song: Three Little Monkeys, swinging in the trees, teasing Mr. Crocodile. Book: The Pop-Up Rumble in the Jungle by Giles Andreae. This beautiful pop-up book doesn't quite grab the babies -- but then, by book 3, nothing's really grabbing the babies. Book: Hippos Go Ber

Party Storyhour

So nice to see Fisher and Sophia back again, safe and sound! Props:  The largest, loudest, most purple party horn at the dollar store, plus some blow horns. Book:   Don't You Dare, Dragon by Annie Kubler. I think the babies are growing up -- they seemed deeply concerned for how this dragon kept getting himself in trouble, and I know that none of them have ever actually met a dragon. Book: Mouse Party by Alan Durant. A good read, because of course, the mouse speaks in a tiny voice, and each animal he invites enters making it's own sounds -- whooing, and baaing, etc, and then the elephant speaks in his own deep loud voice. Then I grabbed, my blowhorn and blew it elephant style. Song: Old Gray Cat , but I'm not so crazy about this one for the babies. Book: Birthday Monsters by Sandra Boynton. Parents joined in singing on the sidelines while I danced  read this out loud. Boynton's books are so bouncy -- and I had my monsters as props too. Book: Monster Math by Anne Mir
