Babies everywhere!

Recognize this artistic interpretation of  Wow! Said the Owl, by Tim Hopgood? It was fun to read this book and paint the picture as I went along. Only Chelsea and I got paint on our fingers. Everyone else listened very  nicely. Other stories were Dancing Feet by Lindsey Craig, a wonderful book with lots of movement, Spot and Friends Play, a sticker book, and Tubby by Leslie Patricelli.

Books: Quiet, Loud by Leslie Patricelli. I love ALL Patricelli's books and this one is perfect for showing quiet and LOUD! Snappy Sounds , one of those noisy board books by Harwood, I introduced: "Now we will be quiet again and read a book. Reading books is such a nice, quiet thing to do." The moms really did get quiet at that point -- so that you could almost hear the barking and meowing and cheeping noises that came from this silly book -- except since when do bunnies go B-o-i-n-g? I skipped that page. The text is cute and rhymy. Gooble Gooble Mooooo Tractor Book by Jez Alborough.  Might need to shorten a bit for the very young ones, but Alzborough's created a perfect amalgamation here of animal sounds and machine sounds. Beach Storyhour, Sea Storyhour

Books: Silly Faces...See Me...In the Ocean! The babies were a little wary about being Silly Faces for me. When I modeled the sea creatures, they were OK with it. Don't Splash the Sasquatch by Redeker. The moms were kinda bewildered by this weird book, but the kids listened. The Pop-up Commotion in the Ocean by Giles Andreae. This beautiful big pop has great sea creatures and fun rhymes. Next year:  At the Beach.  A board book The Three Fish and the Big Bad Shark.    Get PPLC shark and three fish. The shark is so big that it MIGHT grab them! Special Songs: We sang the Wheels on the Bus and then did the  Waves on the Sea : Lots of sounds and movement make this fun for this crowd. Next time:  Don't forget to use the scarves for the motions. Note:  This was posted last year.  This year's babies are just the best always! Hey, babies! A storytime about manners?  What an idea! Do babies to worry about manners? Yup, they do, or else in just a few months, they'll be at that age when THEY DON'T WANT TO HOLD HANDS IN THE PARKING LOT!!!  Books Excuse Me by Karen Katz. I pulled all the props for this so it was a lot of fun. I used my prop gift box as the present from Grandma, so when the story was over I opened the beautiful box, emphasizing the green, the blue bow, the white cylinder inside, and then the balloons, which I blew up by turns and let go.  This is always an enormous crowd pleaser: blowing up a balloon and letting it go.  Go figure.  The Duckling Gets a Cookie by Mo Willems.  I...
