Color Storyhour, Red
Exciting Announcement: Oleshka (Oleg) and his mother Anna have gotten me fired up to introduce baby signing to storytime. We'll start slow, with a few signs each week and a lot of repetition. I'm thinking we'll do "Hello", "Mother" and "More".
Play: Blow up a balloon and release -- always an attention getter. Paint red from a red paintpot onto a big white piece of paper. Wear your red clown bow and red & white Cat in the Hat hat. Little Red Wagon.
Book: Little Monsters by Jan Pienkowski claimed the attention of 20 babies at once! Yay, little monsters!
Play: Red Ladybug puppet
Book: Dinosaur vs. Bedtime by Bob Shea. This big red dinosaur was jussssst right for this group. He did a lot of roaring and the kids did a lot of listening. At the end, I read myself right down to the ground and stuck my thumb in my mouth and 'went to sleep.' Very fun. Christmas performance: Dinosaur vs. Santa. Not so good. None of these babies have been through enough Christmasses to get this book.
Book: "More More More," Said the Baby by Vera Williams. I just read the first tale which had plenty of action.
Book: Elmo If You're Happy and You Know It. Very good.
Play: 1-2-3-4-5-Once I caught a fish alive -- and I went over the colors again. The kids wanted those fish!
What a happy crowd we were at storyhour! |
Pretty in pink -- hey, it was RED day! |
Too bad the moms swooped in when this party turned into a pom-pom tasting. Song: Bumping up and down in my little red wagon/Zooming downhill in my little red wagon. |
Thanks for your blog Ms. Travis. I could see all my friends back.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you and Raga just the other day. Alexandria and Sophia and Savannah are getting so big. I remember how you would all sit together before those babies could even crawl. Now they're all over the place! I bet Raga is hard to keep up with.
